Stephanie E. King, PhD, has an extensive background in the ground-breaking fields of transgenerational epigenetics, environmental epigenetics, and Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD). Her research investigates the transgenerational inheritance of disease following environmental exposures including toxicants and stressors. She received her doctorate with distinguished awards from Washington State University under one of the most well-established researchers in her field. She held an Alberta Innovates Postdoctoral Fellowship in Research Innovation at the University of Lethbridge Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience.
Her research has been published in several journals including Trends in Endocrinology and Metabolism, Developmental Biology, Adipocyte, Environmental Epigenetics, and Nature Scientific Reports. Her research was listed as one of the top 10 most downloaded papers for Scientific Reports in 2019 generating numerous news reports globally. She has also given programs for several scientific organizations including the Alberta MS Network, the Canadian National Perinatal Research Meeting, Developmental Origins of Health and Disease Canada, and the Society for the Study of Reproduction.
In addition to her research interests, Dr. King also produces scientific illustrations that have been featured in research articles and textbook chapters as well as textbook and journal covers. She intends to use her skills to create diagrams for her students that more easily explain complex concepts in the field of genetics.
St. Matthew's curriculum was designed by U.S.-based faculty and parallels training at top U.S. medical schools. It involves ten semesters of concentrated academic and clinical study split between Basic Sciences and Clinical Sciences.
