Congrats to Our New MDs!

We were so proud to celebrate the Class of 2025 at Commencement.

St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine (SMUSOM), a member of GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools (GUS Med & Vet), is proud to celebrate our new graduates each year at Commencement. In June 2025, this annual ceremony was held at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Rhode Island, U.S.

During this much anticipated occasion, our community of care, including faculty, staff, friends and families, gathers to cheer on the latest class of graduates as they walk across the stage to claim their MD degrees.

From everyone at St. Matthew’s University and GUS Med & Vet, a huge congratulations to our 2025 Doctors of Medicine!

It is always so exciting to watch a new cohort head out into the world and begin forging their own pathways to impactful careers as medical practitioners and experts; we know they have so much to offer within the field of medicine.

Some key takeaways from the event include the keynote address from Dhanjit Litt, MD, a General Internist, Program Chief & Medical Director at Trillium Health Partners, and Partner and Chief Medical & Wellness Officer at HealthOne. To learn more about him, see his recent appearance on The White Coat Network Podcast

Dr. Litt is a graduate of our fellow GUS Med & Vet institution, Saba University School of Medicine, and he shared many words of wisdom with our Class of 2025, including: “I walked across a very similar stage 14 years ago and doing so gave me an opportunity to make my dreams come true. That same opportunity is being handed to you today. I hope that you will accept this next challenge in healing our systems of care – know that through this challenge, you can make your dreams come true!”

Another meaningful takeaway came from our very own student speaker, Danielle Boothe, MD, who shared this thoughtful and inspiring message with those in attendance: “Let us serve our patients well – with empathy, patience and kindness… Now, we stand at the edge of a new beginning. We carry with us not just knowledge and skills but resilience, compassion and a collective sense of purpose.”

We truly appreciate Dr. Litt and Dr. Booth for sharing their heartfelt insights, we know that our new alumni will carry their words of encouragement for years to come.
