Financial Aid – Canada

For our MD Program, Canadian students are eligible for loans through their province of residence (excluding ON, BC and NL). Students may apply for up to 52 weeks of financial assistance annually. Canadian students should contact their individual provinces directly for application and eligibility requirements.

Please note, only Canadian students in the SMUSOM MD program are eligible for provincial student aid. Students in the Pre-Medical Master’s program or Gateway program are not eligible and should consider banking loan options if they require financial assistance. For payment plan options, contact our Student Accounts department.

Private Loans: Many Canadian banks provide student lines of credit to supplement or substitute for the provincial loan alternative. Some of these banks include CIBC, RBC, TD and BMO, among others.
