Larkin University Partnership Agreement
New partnership establishes medical school pathway for aspiring doctors in Florida.
GUS Medical Schools – Saba University School of Medicine, Medical University of the Americas and St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine – are pleased to highlight a new partnership with Larkin University, which will enhance the MD program opportunities for Floridian students who plan to pursue careers as practicing physicians. Of particular note, eligible Larkin attendees will receive a $10,000 USD partnership scholarship to help make their medical education more affordable!
In addition, current and former (within five years after graduation) Larkin University students who have met all eligibility requirements, including achieving an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, will receive several partnership benefits. They will benefit from a guaranteed admissions interview, maintain eligibility for up to $110,000 USD in grants and scholarship (in addition to the partnership scholarship) and experience streamlined entry into one of our three MD programs. As part of the admissions requirements, students must satisfactorily complete the interview, provide at least two letters of recommendation and have successfully completed the required prerequisite classes as part of their undergraduate degree.
“At Larkin University, we take great pride in our College of Biomedical Sciences and its remarkable success in expanding educational opportunities for South Florida’s diverse communities and students from all over the U.S. Our alumni, now serving as medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists and physician assistants exemplify the program’s success, showcasing their ability to gain acceptance into competitive medical schools and thrive in their medical education,” shared Rudi H. Ettrich, PhD, President of Larkin University. “This new partnership with GUS Medical Schools, which includes Saba University School of Medicine, Medical University of the Americas and St. Matthew’s University offers an exceptional pathway for our graduates. It provides world-class training and empowers them to realize their dreams of becoming physicians.”
“Everyone at GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools are very excited about this partnership with Larkin University, as we all believe that students learn best in intentionally small class sizes that offer more personalized attention,” shared Jeffrey Bates, Vice President of Field Recruitment and Business Development. “As a Floridian myself, I have seen the positive impact that Larkin University has had on the community and we look forward to welcoming their students into our three medical schools: Saba University School of Medicine, Medical University of the Americas and St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine.”
GUS Medical Schools deliver medical education and hands-on training for future doctors and health care leaders. Our MD programs feature individualized support, committed faculty teams and expansive learning opportunities, which prepare students to succeed as practicing physicians in the U.S., Canada and around the world. Students spend the first half of their MD programs on one of our island campuses for Basic Sciences, and the second half completing clinical rotations in the U.S. and Canada, where they develop knowledge and skills that greatly enhance their ability to provide real care for those in need.
