In the past, St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine has hosted two medical education seminars in partnership with the two most prestigious medical institutions in the US.
The first seminar was hosted in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, an institution with over 140 years of teaching experience focused on sharing knowledge and discoveries to make the world a better place. The Continuing Medical Education Seminar was titled ‘Cholesterol Management’ and was hosted in Lecture Hall #2 of the SMUSOM Grand Cayman campus. SMUSOM was pleased to welcome Dr. Erin D. Michos who is an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins University. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Women in Cardiology task force of the American Heart Association (AHA).
SMUSOM then hosted another Continuing Medical Education Seminar titled, ‘Human Papillomavirus & Oropharynx Squamous Cell Carcinoma’. However, this time, SMUSOM joined forces with the Mayo Clinic, an institution that is consistently ranked at or near the top of the US News & World Report Best Hospitals Rankings for the Best Hospitals Honor Roll. The event was led by Dr. Joaquin J. Garcia MD, a Consultant Pathologist at Mayo Clinic who has studied at schools including Stanford University and University of California San Francisco.
SMUSOM looks forward to hosting more seminars like these in the future.
