Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – GUS Medical Schools, a leader in medical education, and Beal University, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, have officially signed a memorandum agreement to offer a unique pathway for aspiring physicians.
Students who start their medical careers through this collaboration will seamlessly move from Beal University’s health sciences program to one of three renowned GUS Medical Schools: Saba University School of Medicine, the Medical University of the Americas, and St. Matthew’s University. These three institutions, with a collective 70 years of experience in nurturing future doctors and healthcare leaders, are among the leading medical schools in the Caribbean. Additionally, students will have access to Title IV funding, scholarship opportunities, and the chance to become part of a diverse and inclusive community.
Dr. Jim Bruzik, Executive Dean of the Basic Sciences program at GUS Medical Schools, commented on the partnership: “We are excited to welcome Beal University students into our community. This partnership reflects our commitment to fostering the next generation of physicians and ensuring they receive the best education possible.
The partnership will empower and support aspiring medical professionals, while also tackling the increasing shortage of doctors in the United States and Canada.
“We are excited with this new partnership with the GUS Medical schools to advance the mission of Beal University by providing our Bachelor of Science Biomedical graduates the unique opportunity for direct admissions into medical school. We are proud to partner with the GUS Medical Schools to educate the next generation of doctors”, said Sheryl DeWalt, President of Beal University.
To qualify for admission, students must complete all undergraduate coursework, meet minimum grade point averages, and achieve competitive scores on required graduate entrance exams. GUS Medical Schools will expedite the application process for these students, including application review, interviews, and admission decisions. Students will be able to apply to all three schools using a single free application through the One Free Application portal.
Students at Beal University will have access to this partnership this fall 2023.
